Information About Quadra Island
Quadra Island is located in the heart and hub of the Discovery Islands / Gulf Islands between Vancouver Island and the mainland of British Columbia (BC) Canada. Quadra Island is easily accessible by taking a 10 minute vehicle & passenger ferry ride from downtown Campbell River. Fights from Vancouver, Calgary, Seattle and various other departure points are also available.

Quadra Island is the largest and most populated of the Discovery Islands with a population of 3700. It is a popular destination for visitors from around the world, and is best known for its natural and beautiful wilderness scenery. The mild temperate climate, rural lifestyle, pristine environment, and the friendly people of Quadra all add to the charm of Quadra Island and make it a healthy and vibrant community which to live.

The recreation and adventure possibilities on and around Quadra Island are limitless. Quadra Island is an evergreen island of maturing second-growth forest punctuated by some huge veteran old-growth trees. Quadra is surrounded by the snowcapped peaks of the neighbouring Coast Range and Strathcona Park mountains. There are surging tidal rapids, large open bodies of water, numerous islets dotting the intricate shoreline, HMCS Columbia artificial reef, pebble beaches, protected bays, channels and deep fjords. For the sailor, kayaker, hiker, mountain biker, mountaineer, canoeist, diver, wake boarder, water skier and power boater a world of discovery awaits.

Quadra Island is home to resident and transient killer (Orca) whales, sea lions, seals, otters, deer and bald eagles and offers an abundance of wildlife viewing, whale watching, and both salmon and fresh water sport fishing.
